HI

My Netbackup enterprise master server 6.0 is running on  solaris with Two media server with two separate HP ESL 9000 Series Tape Library. Each Tape library has four drive & now we want add third media server is our existing setup by adding another four drive in our existing tape library & connect these four drive to third media server.

Is that possible that two media server can share same robot.

Please suggest me.

Thanks in advance.

I am not really familiar with HP ESL9000 libraries, but yes, you can have multiple media servers sharing the same robot. It will just appear as a different robot number within NetBackup if SCSI attached.

Thanks for your reply.

Our Tape library drive is diectly connected to media server by scsi cable.

My question is that can we share same robot between two media server.

Thanks for your suggestion.

With just one SCSI connection, you need to specify your original media server as the robotic control host when doing your device configuration.

yes.....

example.

I have an L700

my master server had the scsi connection to the robot ( making him the controler).

I had 20 tape drives in the robot.

10 tape drives were attached via scsi cables to media server 1

10 tape drives were attached via scsi cables to media server 2

if you looked on the media servers you could see the 10 tape drives for each.

from the console you set the robot up with control via the master.

then just set up your drives, 10 for each server,

then set up your storage units.

so long as you have one server that has that scsi connection to 'control' the robot you should not have any issue.  if tape drives are attached to a server, and that server is set up as a media server you are good to go.
