Migrate Master Server from Sun Solaris to HPUX

Hi there,
We are planning to migrate Master server (Sun Solaris 8) to new HPUX box, any experience to share. As we are planning to

1. setup same version of Master server in HPUX with Master server - SUN
2. catalog backup from Master server - SUN
3. recover catalog (bprecover) into new HPUX master server

- let assume both servers having same hostname & IP, having same tape library

Having the same IP and library is less important. Same library type is important and hostname is important. Looks good and it should work.

Thanks for promptly response, so it is fine with Sun Catalog recover into HPUX . But is that possible for Windows - any UNIX ?

Hi Liew,

Do note the device path for the robot & drive would change. You've to reconfigure/modify the library and drive even if you do a catalog restore and with same library type. Restore catalog from Unix to Win master server is not possible.

What you mean UNIX to UNIX is possible right ? What my concern is Sun to HPUX.

Sun -> HP is OK
Only potential problem I know if is the number of characters in the hostname are limited in HP.
Check the kernel parameter settings are correct for best throughput.Message was edited by:
