Missing database files from restore

Please don't laugh but I need to restore some cold database files using Netbackup 3.4

Yes, I have NetBackup 3.4 running on a Master server and a client (both Solaris 2.6).

I'm being told by the DBAs that the *.dbf files they want restoring are in the following locations...

/u05/oradata/ACTEST

/u06/oradata/ACTEST

But when I go to the Restore window of the Java GUI I cant see any /oradata/ACTEST folders under /u05 or /u06.

I'm no Solaris expert but the database files must be somwhere but just not on the backup. (I don't have access to the client to check there location but I have been told it is correct.)

I can see the location is specified in the backup policy as ....

  Include:  /u05/oradata/ACTEST

            /u06/oradata/ACTEST

            /u01/apps

            /arch/apps/ACTEST

            /arch/oracle/ACTEST

            /u01/oracle

            /u01/oracle817

            /

            /var

            /esource

There is a shutdown script that runs on the client before the backup is started so the .dbf files are stopped for backup.

And the exclude_list on the client does not contain these folders.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Hi Nicolai - I found the files required using your bplist command so I now know they are getting backed up.

I still couldn't see them in the restore window of the Java GUI.

However, I've come across bpadm and can see they are available using this.

I think there must be some incompatability between NetBackup 3.4 Java GUI and the version of Java I have installed on my laptop.

Anyway, my problem is resolved.

Thanks

3.4? Really?

Please try to set date range wide enough. No idea other than this for me.

try this command

# bplist -t 0 -s 01/01/1970 -C {client_name} -l -R /

This will list all file system backup of a client. You can modify / to e.g /u06/oradata/ACTEST to limit listing.

NBU 3.4 uses a X windows GUI. The Java GUI is not compatible.

really !!!!

Your post is the post that help you the most??????

OK. It a way to reward the person that help you....

I did not post just to say to you that you are wrong.
I want to suggest you to install the windows GUI. At this version it is easier than any x or java interface.

And if you have the software, to upgrade to 4.5 FP9. But I suspect that it is a solaris  OEM istallation.
