Hello,

I have tried to remotly upgrade Linux server (SuSE2.6.16) with kernel version 2.6.16 to 7.1.0.4 but unfortunately I found out that install package is missing on master server exatly for kernel version 2.6.16. Other packages are there.

I am not sure if problem occured during upgrade of NBU on master server and all packages were not placed..... or NBU 7.1.0.4 dosnt contains this package???

in /usr/openv/netbackup/client/Linux

If you're doing a client patch, this is the one you need:

61600   ./RedHat2.6

we don't contain different binaries for slightly different releases - the Netbackup/client directory would be humongous!

I edited my description because I didnt wrote exact OS distr. (SuSE2.6.16) in description.

So, I assume that use RedHat2.6 is not possible in my case.

We have those folders populated on our Linux master server:

362M    Debian2.6.18
73M     IBMpSeriesRedHat2.6
65M     IBMpSeriesSuSE2.6
285M    IBMzSeriesRedHat2.6.18
60M     IBMzSeriesSuSE2.6.16
357M    RedHat2.6.18
157M    SuSE2.6.16

It seems your master server is AIX?
If so, it will probably be necessary to install these client binaries explicitly from NBU7.1_Clients installation media, followed by reinstallation of 7.1.0.4 Client patch.
You will need to add -p option to force-install.

Hello,

I already have package there. I copied it from other environment where is same version.

.. but I have another problem 32 bit Linux is not supported for NBU 7.0 and higher version. Right?

btw: yes, I have AIX master server

Log from /tmp/update_clients.05-17-1513.2764902

Correct. No more support for 32-bit Linux. You can find links to Compatibility Guides in 'Handy NBU links' in my signature.

Thx for info.

Our SuSE systems are 32 bit. So, I can upgrade just 64bit RedHat systems but again I have a problem :(

Client kernel version: RedHat /  Linux2.6.32-220.13.1.el6.x86_64

NBU GUI: Linux/RedHat2.6

Log from update:

<client> is defined as a client type from an earlier release of NetBackup.

... but I have no option to choose higher version of RedHat. There is just RedHat2.4 and RedHat2.6.

Our SuSE systems are 32 bit

You can install NetBackup 6.5.X version.

we have there actually 6.5.4. and this is reason why we would like to upgrade it to 7.1.0.4

This vesrion is no more supported by Symantec.

.. and NBU 7 and higher dont are not support SuSe 32 bit.

Log from update:

<client> is defined as a client type from an earlier release of NetBackup.

Try update_clients with -ForceInstall, e.g.

update_clients -ForceInstall -ClientList /tmp/list

I started it with command

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/update_clients -ForceInstall -Install_Client_Bins -ClientList dblist
