Moving Netbackup Master Server to new box with new name

Hello,

Can anybody help?

We have to centralise all of our servers into a new domain. This means that we have to rebuild and rename them and I am concerned about our Netbackup Master Server. We use Netbackup 5.0 MP6 and I would like to rebuild the server then reinstate our existing policies, catalogues etc onto the rebuilt server. The proble is that this server will have a different name from the original one and I am not sure whether this can be done or not and if it can how we go about doing it.

These links no longer appear to be valid. Does anyone have access to this info?

Hey....if somebody can help in this matter....it wil be useful even to me.

we had moved the master server (NB6.0 MP4 in Win.2003) to different box with new naming convention. I didnt even restore the catalog to the new server. Instead i copied the images folder. so am able to see the images in Restore wizard. but i cant restore them. i had also added entry in original backup server & restore server. but i dont think, this is a good idea.

These links are broken .. (thank you veritas for upgrading your forums)

Can you repost them or point to documentation?  Thanks!

One point I would like to add to James' fine document. If you are changing the name of the Master server be sure to push it out as a SERVER = to all the clients BEFORE shutting down the original master. This will make it easier to push out a new configuration with the first line being SERVER = <new master server>. Hopes this helps.
