NBU 6.5.3.1 Hot Catalog Backup

Hi,

We are running a Hot Catalog Backup for NBU , using the Catalog-BAckup Policy. We are not using BMR , altough there is a BMR database present under /netbackup/db/..
I renamed the BMRDB file o BRDB old and we still get this error while running the backups :
"error staging BMRDB backup to C:\VERITAS\NetBackupDB\staging  "
Any suggestions?

Thanks
Shaishavi

Could be it's trying to stage the db there prior to backup & failing.

 The error is :
Error bpdbm(pid=6052) error staging BMRDB backup to D:\VERITAS\NetBackupDB\staging
I did the following :
1. rename BMRDB under D:\veritas\NetbackupDB\data to BMRDB.db.old
2. Delete the filename from file lists in the Hot catalog Policy using bpplinclude -delete -f filename
It still gives the same error , and completes with status 1. :(

The D:\ is not out of space. Also NBDB is staged successfully on D:\

you error states:

"error staging BMRDB backup to C:\VERITAS\NetBackupDB\staging  "

**EDIT**

Altho' that's in your original post & you then go on to say the error is "error staging BMRDB backup to D:\VERITAS\NetBackupDB\staging ", so if that's the case then space probably isn't an issue.

Is there a permissions issue? - probably not due to the other staging working.

Anything in the staging area that could be stopping it?

**EDIT #2**
Just seen your follow-up after I editted this for the first time!! :D

Maybe worthwhile logging a call for this?

Can't find anything of relevance apart from my previous suggestions (space, permissions or existing file in staging area). Maybe it's something more fundamental? We don't use BMR either (not even attempted to play with it) & not had any issues with staging errors in the catalog backup.

I'll have another look around & drop another line if I find anything.

you say there is a BMR db? Did you use BMR in the past? Maybe it'll "simply" be a case of deleting the database however the recommended way is?

There is a section if the BMR Admin guide: Uninstalling the BMR master server from a Windows system which may be worth a good read (because as I say I've never used it so never had to uninstall!!)

Snippet:
"...
1 Open a Windows command window.

2 Enter the following command:
C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\bin>bmrsetupmaster -undo

3 In the following prompt, enter y to remove the BMR database.
The current BMR database is about to be deleted. Do you want to
continue? (y/n)

..."

I would imagine that this would rid you of the BMR db & hopefully your issues?
