Hi,

I try to install the NBU7.1 Client on a server running Oracle Enterprise Linux but each time, the install fail with error. Here is a copy of the log file:

Symantec Installation Script
Copyright 1993 - 2011 Symantec Corporation, All Rights Reserved.

        Installing NetBackup Client Software

Do you wish to continue? [y,n] (y) y
Do you want to install the NetBackup client software for this client? [y,n] (y) y

This package will install Linux/RedHat2.6 client.

This package will install NetBackup client 7.1.

Enter the name of the NetBackup server : train3

Would you like to use "oratest.pacifique.net" as the configured
name of the NetBackup client? [y,n] (y) y

Your current working directory must be the client/<hardware>/<os> directory ??????????????????
that contains the binaries that you want to copy.

A failure was detected running /mnt/symnfs/NetBackup_7.1_CLIENTS/NBClients/anb/Clients/usr/openv/netbackup/client/Linux/RedHat2.6/cp_to_client train3 oratest.pacifique.net /tmp/install_trace.24862

Any idea?

Regards

Seems you have the same problem as Zahid in this post: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/not-able-install-solaris-client-71-solaris-9

You need to use GNU tar to extract the zip-file after you have joined the 2 downloads.

Please see this link on the 7.1 LBN http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH153422

Installation Issues:

Extraction or installation errors from downloaded NetBackup 7.1 software extracted using Solaris, Linux, HP-UX and AIX servers.

Using your answer, I was able to install the Client on this machine.

(using gtar xvzf /mnt/symnfs/NBU7.1_NetBackup_7.1_CLIENTS.tar.gz)
