NDMP backup writes its data then sits there...for hours.

More ndmp woes.

I have direct attached NDMP on a remote media server.

The backup puts the data on tape, takes maybe 2 hrs, 716GB,4.5m files.Quite a few...

Then tells me backup complete.

Then sits there ooh its been there for 2hrs now doing seemingly NOTHING.

This is the last entry in the log. Other NDMP backups work fine before and after. This backup used to work fine.

Very frustrating.

Master and media server are 7504.Master=Sol10, media=Win2008R2, filer =netapp ontap 803

For comparison here is a very similar backup / data profile

06/16/2013 17:00:50 - Info ndmpagent (pid=3957) NDMP backup successfully completed, path = /vol/wnsxx_unit
06/16/2013 17:02:00 - Info bptm (pid=3970) EXITING with status 0 <----------
06/16/2013 17:02:00 - Info bpbrm (pid=3912) validating image for client clientx
06/16/2013 17:02:01 - Info ndmpagent (pid=3957) done. status: 0: the requested operation was successfully completed

So it should just validate and exit. The bptm doesnt seem to be arriving.

And cant be killed via right-click 'Cancel Job' in admin GUI. Gotta love it.

Only way to get shot of it is via ndmpd on the filer itself.

There is some network lateny...and a possible scenario outlined in the forum I'm looking at.

I would be interested to see what the bptm log shows from 11:39 onward.  Also the ndmpdlog from the filer, although that is not enabled by default.
