Hi,

Does GRT is blured out...Check , where you were taking backup. If it is in tape, GRT is not workable.

As tape backup uses .tar format, GRT is not supported, to open the database in that  format, as .TAR is a compressed format of the backup.

So, if the destination is a tape change to a disk type media first  .............

Then backup those data to disk  and then backup to tape.

In a disk backup Netbackup can expand the backup (where GRT is enabled to take backup), while restoring a perticular object in a dadabase.

Remember GRT is not supported in tape.

No, there is no problem from 6.5 to 7.0 upgrade.

I guess you have upgraded the NBU 6.5 to 7 as per the defined by Symantec.

In case you required, check the EMM database consistancy

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note - As the OS is Win 2008 R2, it always best practice to upgrade (your version is NBU 7.0) with latest patches and hotfix.

The latest version is NBU 7.0.1 go for the update and most of the problem gets resolved.

Thanks.

NetBackup Application and Database Pack license is required.

Extract from licensing guide:

The NetBackup Application and Database Pack license covers agents for the following databases and applications:

* Oracle
* Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Active Directory
* IBM DB2, IBM Lotus Notes
* Informix
* Sybase
* Symantec Enterprise Vault

Hi,

Yes , You require a License for windows Granular Recovery.

But I guess, mostly you gets this license as on of the default.

GRT is used to restore a particular object like an User.

You can restore a particular User(say it is accidintial deleted).

To confirm that U have Windows license, check that u have "MS Windows" type in the selection of backup Type.

There is no name for AD type backup, we need to select 'MS Windows" and GRT, that's it.

Create a AD backup and wants restore indivudial object in AD.

Steps:-

1. Create a Policy ...select 'MS Windows' in policy type(or Backup Type).

2. Select Granular rescovery option.

3. Create a backup schedule.

4. Select the Client.

5. In the selection part you can expand and then select required object to backup.

If you choose "System State" that bring every thing of an AD. Doesn't required any other selection.

Now, after backup those data, try to restore those data by expanding then u can now restore a particular object.

Thanks.

We had to install/enable NFS to get this working in our test/reference environment.

"The Network File System (NFS) must be installed on the media server and all Active Directory domain controllers or ADAM/LDS hosts."

It's all explained in the following article:
