NetBackup Discovery Framework - what does it do?

Hello Experts!

For some reason one of the application on my server (I suspect the firewall), kills the process nbdisco.exe. I checked it out and it seems to be a netbackup service - "NetBackup Discovery Framework".
I checked my backup and it seems all is fine. I was wondering if you could tell me what should be effected due to this service being down.

The process is related to Oracle Intelligent Policies.
