Any ideas what i made wrong in the policy config? I´m using netbackup 7.01 for the master server & all clients.

There are a couple of T/N's relating to the error "Unable to initialize nbfsd"

This one relates to AD

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH138811

and this to Exchange

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH65069

Altho' both relate to 6.x it's actually the latter that may be of most interest vis:

Have you switched off "Server for NFS"? From the NB7 Admin Guide:

"...
After you enable Services for Network File System (NFS) on the media server and
on the Active Directory domain controllers or ADAM/LDS hosts, you can disable
Server for NFS.
..."

This may or may not apply. Have you verified the Windows Server Backup feature is installed on the client? We had similar problems when we added two new clients. It turned out this feature was not installed. Once installed the backup ran clean.

Hi

windows server backup feature is installed and also i doubled check the net stop nfssvc and net start portmap. The DNS resolution works fine in both ways also with reverse. Now i have this issuea also on one of our exchange servers

Error bpbrm (pid=17527) from client xxx: ERR - Unable to initialize nbfsd.

the information store was backuped but not with GRT and this is what i want. Any other ideas what is wrong here.
ports for netbackup & nfs are also open and checked.

Have you tried System state backup in "windows server backup" ? if not please try that first . There are lot of things which can cause issue on system state backup .

If that is working fine then please check the timeout setting for this client , by default it will 300 sec . As win 2008-R2 system state backup has 5-6 GB is size where 300 sec timout is not sufficent.

Please increase the timeout and check .

Even after if it didn't work then please post , will try to suggest some other options.

Just found another thread with a similar error but 6.5.4..looks like it's not fixed in 7.01
