NetBackup for SAP

UFO
Level 6

I was looking through Enterprise Support web-site, but didn't found relevant documentation. Maybe you have the answer.

How does NetBackup work with SAP online backup  (RHEL 4/5 and Oracle both 10 and 11)? I have only Admin guide - this doesn't help much.

Hi,

You link the backint binary in the run directory in sap i.e /usr/sap/<sid>/SYS//exe/run to the netbackup backint binary. In other words change directory to the folder where you have the sap tools and run

ln -s /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/backint backint

After this you configure the init<sid>.sap and init<sid>.utl which will be located in the $ORACLE_HOME/dbs on unix platforms. You can copy the sample files from /usr/openv/netbackup/ext/db_ext/sap/scripts/sap_oracle and edit it to your environment.

You can configure the sap_online_backup sample script in the same folder to run the backup.

I hope this helps.
