Netbackup 6.0 Can Not Detect tape Drive

Hi all,

curently i am new for tape back up environment,

i have px506 library tape and i try configure it into Netbackup 6 (with sun 10 operating system) using Device configuration wizard, but it failed with the error message:

"The wizard could not detect any removable media devices attached to the host... etc"

Are any one already facing this problem before?

Please give me advise

Does your Solaris OS recognise the newly added tape drives/library?

Need this first before NetBackup configuration of same.

basically my tape already attach to sun server and sun already knew my tape driver,

What about : modinfo|grep sg (NetBackups generic SCSI passthru' driver) ?

e.g.

modinfo|grep sg
6 13f660c 35cd 272 1 sg (SCSA Generic Revision: 3.6)

If this is installed/configured correctly, what are the results of sgscan ?

e.g.

# sgscan
/dev/sg/c1tw2*acdl0: Changer: "OVERLANDNEO Series"
/dev/sg/c1tw5*ac0l0: Tape (/dev/rmt/1): "HP Ultrium 3-SCSI"

I see you are using Emulex card. Downgrade your lpfc driver version to 6.11cx2 and problem should get resolve.

in other way, it's meant that i have compabilities issue between Netbackup 6.0 and my fc driver? so in that case i need to down grade my lpfc driver version to become 6.11cx2

HI All,

Since 6.11cx2 it's very old emulex driver, rather than NetBackup 6.0 can i use Netbackup 6.5 with 6.21f emulex driver?

Please respond as soon as possible.
