Netbackup 6 MP4 on Windows Master possible gotcha with NBU notifications

Hi,

I thought I'd mention this since other people are bound to have this issue.
I'd noticed that no email notifications or catalog DR emails had been sent out after applying MP4 onto a Windows Master (Server 2003, SP1).
It turns out that a file called nbmail in the bin dir had been overwritten; what had actually caused the NBU emails to stop was the fact that the new file was just a file of commented out lines (and therefore did nothing).
You can probably uncomment out the required lines but I just replaced it with the pre-MP4 file (had MP3 previously).

Cheers,

Tim

I'm having the same issue. I will try that.

Same thing happens with your backup_exit_notify scripts......if you're using these for SOX compliance (as we were), be VERY careful and test very thoroughly to make sure any functionality you added in yourself doesn't get overwritten!

Noticed today that the same thing happens with NBU 5.1 after applying MP6.
The nbmail.cmd file is replaced (thus deactivated).

Yep, that happens every time you apply a MP. You can find your original one in the X:\Program Files\VERITAS\Patch\NB_60_4_M\ directory, called nbmail.cmd943 (the numbers may be different for you).
