Trying to configure a flashbackup of a volume which contains millions of small files on an HP-UX 11.31 server (PA-RISC). I initially am trying the "auto" snapshot method in the policy configuration, but I get an error when it attempts to validate the snapshot configuration:

Well - it appears "auto" isn't going to work. So I'm tinkering some more - get VxFS_snapshot configured - with a newly created cache device to support it. So the policy now is fine with this configuration - the "Validating Snapshot Client" does not fail any more.
But when I run a full backup on the partition (it's 130GB with about 100GB of data in it) with the policy it finishes *way* too quickly and the details of the job show only 32K backed up. And when I go into the Restore Files tab and select the host/FlashBackup type/Normal Backups - I get the old "No files found" dialog.
I think I'm fundamentally missing something here and would appreciate any hints/tips/recommendations!
Thanks,
-Mike-

Did you enter the cache partition as part of the policy, or via Host Properties -> Client -> Unix Client?
Please post updated policy config, but this time with -L option .
For troubleshooting, please create bpfis and bpbkar folders on the client and try again.
Please post these logs as attachments.

Looks like it may have been my /dev exclusion. So I commented out the /dev entry in my exclude file... now I get:

Log file shows some info of questionable help. The TechNote referenced is quite old and doesn't mention 11.31 (not sure 11.31 was even released when the TN was drafted)... I guess I'll need to go hunting for more details along this line...

I agree - the new URL for TN 262225 is http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH28008 .
Maybe best to open a Support ticket?

Yes - I'm thinking a support case may be warranted for this...

Please let us know the outcome?
I also found this HOWTO doc: http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO50908 which simply points back to TN 262225...
I have also tried the download link mentioned in TECH28008: http://bbs.support.veritas.com/securedl.htm
This link does not work.
Curios to know what Support says....

...although I don't know if it will help you, the previously referenced file in question can now be found in this document:
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH32368
Hopefully support can tell you if this is applicable to your environment or not, though. (This still seems like some pretty old documentation! For instance, this is marked as a NB 4.5/5.x TechNote.)
