I wish to back up my Oracle 12c database direct to tape using Netbackup client 7.5 for Sun Solaris 10 however the oracle_link script says it isn't compatible with database 12.1.0.2.
What options do I have?
Obviously I could backup to disk and then use a standard policy to copy rman dumps to tape but I would rather use the Oracle policy.

You will need to upgrade your Netbackup environment to at least 7.6.0.2 to get this to work with Netbackup Oracle Agent.

That would be my advised option before you sought flatfiles backup methods.

Thanks, I had a feeling that was the case. That will be quite a task then as I believe the master server is currently on a 32bit machine.
I'm guessing that 7.6 clients can't communicate with 7.5 Master/Media servers.

Correct.
Master and media servers must be upgraded to 7.6.x first.
To migrate master to new hardware:
