Would like to ask if Catalog Merging for Netbackup 6.5 and Netbackup 7.6 supported?
My customer have 2 backup domains, one is Netbackup 6.5 and another one is Netbackup 7.1, they would like to upgrade the nbu7.1 to 7.6 then only slowly migrate all client from nbu6.5 to nbu7.6 backup domain.
I am not sure if this recommended and compatibility issue on catalog merging between nbu6.5 and 7.6?
Please advise. Thank you.

Hi,
With the latest Catman tool from Symantec you can actually merge/migrate and upgrade versions.
##Edit, I misread your question. Disregard my comments.

Please tell us more about how this would be done?
.... then only slowly migrate all client from nbu6.5 to nbu7.6 backup domain.
Have a look at Version Compatibility TN: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH29677
So, according to TECH29677, a NBU 6.5 client is compatibile with '7.5 (or greater)' master, but the TN also points out that support for NBU 6.5 ended in 2012.
So, important to upgrade these clients ASAP.

Actually I would like to know if I upgraded to 7.6, the catalog can still be merge with 6.5 or not.
Previously customer enggage with symantec consulting service that 6.5 and 7.1 can be merge.
Now they want to upgrade 1st then only merge the catalog, just worried that there are version dependency for catalog merging.
Anyway, I will get customer to talk with thier consultant.
This case can be close. Thanks for all the help. :)

Catalog manipulation consultants have the tools to merge different version catalogs.
See:
How to migrate the NetBackup catalog information from one platform to another (UNIX to Windows or vice versa), rename a Master Server, cluster an existing Master Server, or merge multiple NetBackup domains.
