Netbackup migration to Linux Servers

Hi all,

I have a few questions I need to confirm with all of you.

I am running Netbackup 7.5.0.5 on a Solaris 10 platform with KMS (encryption on LTO 4 drives) enabled, most of the backup images have 1 and 7 years retentions.

My client is planing a tech refresh and wants to upgrade the backup servers to Linux RH 5 servers, I am planning on keeping the same host name and IP addresses on the backup servers to simplify the migration.

here are my questions:

  1. Are there any issues/concerns I need to know when doing a catalog recovery?
  2. Will the KMS heys and settings be transfered to the new server when doing a catalog recovery?
  3. Do I need to re-install, configure and do an encryption key recovery after the catalog recovery?
  4. Will the encrytion keys work for restores on all the long term media stored offsite (7 years retention)?
  5. Do you have any known issues/steps I need to be aware of for this migration?

Thanks

Efrain

Netbackup KMS is not part of the catalog backup. I think you will find the following tech note interesting for qustion 2 - 4 :

With regards to catalgo recovery check this T/N:
