Hi,
Anybody can help, I have server from where I have backed up one full d:\ drive only. Now I want to restore this d:\ driver to other server.
Is there any specific pre-requsite require to restore to other server. Source server is windows 2003 and destination new server will windows 2008.
Thanks!

The master server console can always perform a redirected restore. If you wan't to grant a single server restore right from another server use the instruction listed below:
From the Netbackup Administrator for Windows volume 1 guide page 883:
The NetBackup administrator can permit a single client to restore the backups
that belong to other clients. Create a peername file on the NetBackup master
server where the policy that backed up the other client(s) resides.
Note: The information in this topic applies to restores made by using the command
line, not the Backup, Archive, and Restore client interface.
Create an altnames directory in the following location, then place the empty file
inside of the directory:
Install_path\NetBackup\db\altnames\peername
Where peername is the client to possess restore privileges.
In this case, the requesting client (peername) can access the files that are backed
up by another client. The NetBackup client name setting on peername must match
the name of the other client.

So long as the client software is installed and both can be accessed by the media server, you can restore from one server to another.

NBU on Win2k8 (do remember right click & run as Administrator every time)

Hi Nicolai,
Thanks for help, instead of making peername specifically. I created the No.Restrictions file. And it allowed me the restore.

Just remember the No.Restriction file will allow *ANY* client to restore from *ANY* host. You might consider to remove the file after restore due to security concerns
Thanks for marking as a soloution.
Best Regards
Nicolai
