I am looking for an easy way to perform a full Oracle Data Base restore by a non RMAN specialist.
I found the "Oracle Cloning" feature in OpsCenter :
= Is this a way to restore an Oracle Base ?
= Is there some exemple on web sites ?

Step-by-step instructions in Chapter 9 of Symantec OpsCenter Admin Guide http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC3708
Hope this helps!
PS: Always involve the Oracle dba. This is best done by both parties (NBU admin and oracle dba) co-operating...

Thank you, instructions in OpsCenter Manuel are also in NetBackup Oracle Guide (and in the OpsCenter Help).
Yes, I have to find an oracle DBA...but to find an Oracle DBA, I have to prove that it is a nice feature.
And I can not find any example, video or screenshot on this topic !

The use of the OpsCenter Web-based user interface to guide a user through the Oracle cloning operation offers several benefits:
The process is more automated, making the operation easier to perform.
OpsCenter retrieves information for you such as databases and control files, shortening the Oracle clone setup time.
A validation process increases the rate of successfully completing the cloning operation.
You do not need access to the original database to perform the cloning operation.

yes but it is almost the same text as in NetBackup Oracle and NetBackup OpsCenter Manuals, and there is no exemple !
However, I found on Symantec Partners web site, this document:
NetBackup 7.0 Feature Briefing
Guided Application Recovery – Oracle Cloning
I think it's a good document to understand "OpsCenter Oracle cloning" without implementing it, but access to this document is restricted to Symantec partners.

I found some restrictions at the end of the "NetBackup 7.0 Feature Briefing - Guided Application Recovery – Oracle Cloning":
•Clone an Oracle database from an RMAN backup to the same client using a different database name and different file names than the original.
And
•The Oracle clone cannot use the same SID on the original server as the production database. In order words database cannot be overwritten. This feature will be made available as part of Oracle Guided Restore capability, planed for a future NetBackup release.
Does somebody know when "Oracle Guided Restore" will be available ?
