Possibly moving JUST part of the Media Manager Volume DB to a new server

Currently my operational Master/Media Server (Sun V880) is running Solaris 8.  The NetBackup version is Enterprise Server 6.0 MP7S01.  We have stood up a new Sun Server (T5440) running Solaris 10.  I clean installed NetBackup 7.0 on this server.  The hostname is the same as the current Solaris 8 box.  We need to move over to the new server soon.  Both boxes are attached to the same L700 with 12 T9940B fibre drives.  I have been creating similar policies to the current Solaris 8 box.  I would like to somehow move over JUST the part of the database that "preserves" the images and what tapes have what data but I have been told by Symantec that there is no support for this?  Any suggestions would be nice?

You seem to be contradicting yourself..

Post title " moving JUST part of the Media Manager Volume DB "

then later "JUST the part of the database that "preserves" the images and what tapes have what data".

Please have a look at "Recovery without Import" doc and see if it satisfies your requirement:

Original 3-page version:
http://eval.symantec.com/mktginfo/products/White_Papers/Data_Protection/nbu_wp_replicatingbucatalogs_103003.pdf

Updated, longer version:
http://eval.symantec.com/mktginfo/enterprise/white_papers/b-whitepaper_implementing_highly_available_dr_with_veritas_netbackup_01_08_13599373.pdf

In summary: Copy 'images' folder across. Partial extract of EMM database cannot be done. Because media will have Unassigned status on new master, write protect all media containing data and add to a pool that will NEVER be used for backups, e.g RESTORE.

You will have to pull Media List Report or Media Summary Report from old master to see when data on tapes expire, so that you will know when the RESTORE tapes can be reused (write protect removed and moved to Scratch Pool).

The only other way is to import all the tapes that contain data...
