Is the server Master Server? Why don't the NBU processes start?

If it is necessary to immediately finish installation, you will perform a Local Installation instead of the Remote(push) Installation.

It seems not running bpdbm. try this.

------------------------------------------

# /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/initbpdbm

------------------------------------------

Try as follows when bpdbm doesn't start even if the above is executed.

------------------------------------------

# /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/initbprd

------------------------------------------

This server is Solaris 10, and installed Netbackup 5.1 Agent.

Looks still got problem.

root@ # /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/initbpdbm

root@ # /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/initbprd

root@ # /etc/init.d/netbackup start
Media Manager daemons started.
NetBackup request daemon started.
root@ #
No Entries in the Drive Database

root@ # ./bpps -a

root@ # /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpdbm
root@ # pwd
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin
root@ # ./update_dbclients Oracle -ClientList filename

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpdbm is not executing.
Please make sure the NetBackup daemons have been started.

It is not a master server, it is a media server but do not have any tape driver connect yet. I will use another master server to backup , and that server act as a client. I following the installation guide of the netbakup admin gudie for  oracle to install to this new oracle server.

I see. It is necessary to execute update_dbclients command with the Master server.
It is not possible to execute it from the Media server.

"NetBackup 5.1 for Oracle System Administrator's Guide for UNIX Page.31"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Remote Installation of NetBackup for Oracle]

During a remote installation, NetBackup for Oracle files are loaded onto the current
machine, which must be a UNIX master server. The software is then distributed to the
clients and installed.
