Robotic failover configuration

Hi

I have a library which has auto failover robotic arm,
Drive1 + robotic = assigned to mediaserver1
Drive2 + robotic (secondary path) assigned to mediaserver2

When drive1 active, robotic control host is mediaserver1 and all tapes will mark control host = mediaserver1.
If drive1 down, robotic will autoswitch to drive2 which connected to mediaserver2. Netbackup will not auto detected this failover.

Question:
1. How’s netbackup configuration to get auto failover?
2. If no config for the auto failover, how’s the manual step?
ony other best config for this case?

Thanks,
IAW

Why not just have drive 1 and 2 on the same media server, perhaps shared to both media servers and have 1 media server with the robot zoned?

Shouldn't really be zoning the robot to multiple servers. Just one will do.

1. How’s netbackup configuration to get auto failover?
you can not configure library failover from one media to another. Only path failover at the same media.
Add both drives to the media server (better to both media servers using SSO) as revaroo suggest and follow this technote for library path failover http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH73944

2. If no config for the auto failover, how’s the manual step?
based on this technote  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH30490  follow the steps 5,6,7,and 8

Hi,

I dont have SSO license.
I will try path failover at the same media and see how it works.

Thanks,
