Slow Backups

My master server is a Windows 2003 r3 Netbackup 6.5.6 server connected thru a 2 GB FC switch to a tape library with LTO3 drives. I have added a new Windows 2008 r2 media server connected thru a 4 GB FC switch to a new library with LTO5 drives. Changing several jobs in my backup policies to use the new media aerver and new tape library, I see little gain in completion time. These are jobs like an Exchange server usualy taking 14 HR and a file server taking 5.5 HR. Can anybody tell me why ia don't see improvements in my completion time?

Slow clients?  Slow network?

Test local copy to null, and then copy over the network, and measure throughput.

Do you perform LAN-based or SAN-based backup to LTO5 drives? If you use LAN-based backup over GbE, you won't gain rise in backup speed, as LAN is the bottleneck in this case. In order to utilize LTO5 drives to full extent, swich to SAN-based backups (SAN media server or SAN client).
