Status 129 - even when we have free space in Disk

Hi Team,

We are using Symentac Netbackup 7.1.0.4.

For past 6 months i have noticed, some time we backup failure for status 129 while taking a backup of C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts .

I ensured that we have enough free space in the DISK.

But in the second attempt automatically it completes fine.

Could you please help me how to resolve this issue.

Are you saying that you have a policy specifically for just the hosts file?

If so that impies it is important (relating to your other post)

To know why you should get a 129 error we need to know more information:

NetBackup version, disk type (basic / advanced/ msdp / puredisk etc)

Also how your backup policy and storage unit is configured

Useful info would be:

bppllist policyname -U

bpstulist -g -U

Please show us the policy and Storage Unit config?

On the master, run the following from cmd:

bppllist <policy-name> -U

bpstulist -U

(commands are in <install-path>\veritas\netbackup\bin\admincmd)

Hi Mark & Marianne,

Thanks for your response.

Netbackup version : 7.1.0.4

Disk type : Pure disk

PFA for the Policy configuration & Storage type

So it is PureDisk and the backup just backs up the hosts files - very odd - but i see it is all named test - so how large is your disk pool and where is it located? (MSDP or PureDisk Server)

Please show us some screenshots from the device - disk pools and device monitor disk pools sections

Actually the server name is different. Due to the compliance issue, i mentioned it as 'Test'

We have other policies for FULL & DIFF backup of the servers.

If you have full and diff backup policies for the servers you really dont need this one as the hosts file will be included in those.

You clearly have plenty of disk space so something else causes the error

Could you show us the full text from the details tab of a job that fails and if possible the bpbrm and bptm / bpdm logs from the media server that ran the backup

Also please answer whether this is MSDP local to the Media Server or you are using a PureDisk server - along with all versions

Thanks

Trying to figure out why the subject in your other post is 'Exclude backup':

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/exclude-backup

Please help me understand why you want to exclude it when it is the only entry in the Backup Selection?
