Hello,

refer to Install Guide. Once you install server software, and confirm that it should be configured as a Master, then both Master and Media server software is installed.

See you have NetBackup certification for Windows, so basically with Linux it is the same in principle.

Hi RajKumar,

Below are steps to be followed:

1.you can install master and media server in the same server. For this ensure you have vaild license for 7.6, dowlonad the netbackup binaries, copy into the Linux machine. Once done you can install the netbackup master. Once you install the netbackup master server properly it will act as media server as well. For media server no need to install any thing seperate if we use same as master and media.

2. For the MSDP Part: ensure you have teh license key for dedup, and ensure where you are planning for destination of dedup backup, whether it is data domain or SAN array or local disk. Once done you can create the storage server, in which you supply the disk path, type puredisk, create credentials,etc...create disk pool, followedy by stu and SLP.

To install media server in a separate server just check the compatibility, copy the s/w,license key and intall the media server.

To instal client on Unix, you push it from the master server or you use ./update_clients or just copy s/w into local machine and just install...

Hope this will clarify you questions..

Herewith official link to NBU 7.6 manuals: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000003746

You are looking for the following :

NetBackup Installation Guide

The above manual covers master/media server installation, additional media server installation, client installations (including push install from the master).

Please note that update_clients (as per above post) is for upgrading of existing clients, not initial install.

MSDP is covered is this manual: NetBackup Deduplication Guide
Be sure to read through this manual - proper planning is key to successful deployment.

NBU basics like backup policy config is covered in NetBackup Administrator's Guide, Volume I

A bit of advice:

NetBackup is NOT an off-the-shelve product.
Please try to book yourself on 5-day classroom training or locate the free online training before you attempt to install and config yourself.

*** EDIT ***

I see you have almost 3 years worth of NBU experience and have SCS certification on Windows and Unix.
These certifications imply that you have the necessary knowledge and experience as these exams are NOT easy.....
