Hi

I have netbackup enterprise 7.1 having two media server running on UNIX hosts. This two media server configured in two diffrent Datacentre. I want each Datacentre client use it own local media server menas means all server in same DC use own DC media server.

Pls suggest me how can I do this without creating two separate policy.

Is there any configuration in storage unit group using bp.conf file ?

Thanks

SK

If I remember right, no such attributes or parameters in NetBackup. Just create two policies for each data center. I think, although if such configuration is possible, creating separate policies based on physical location and any orher management factor is reasonable.

Yea.. I think the only way is to use two separate policies, each of them using a designated storage unit for a different location (DC). This is because client hosts can be segregated among different policies.

A policy has no way to decide what client should go to which storage unit.

I'd go for 2 separate policies

All replies are suggesting 2 different policies.

One way we can get this done by means of Schedules

NetBackup schedules offers override feature (great one)

you may create two different schedules in single policy and assign different STU to this  Let say Schedule A for DC1 and Schedule B for DC2

you would have only single policy but it would be directed to this two different STU

Make sure both schedules must not collide with each other

also client must have both media server added into their host properties else backup would fail

All schedules will be used for all clients in the policy.

There is no way to limit Sched A to DC1 clients and Sched B to DC2 clients....

Different policies is the only way to go.
