Sybase Backup Netbackup

Hello Everybody,

I am working now on the backups of Sybase databases. I have read the sample sript from netbackup but I would like to ask about two parameters i dont understand.

# Replace syb_files below with your actual name of the NetBackup 

# server Policy to be used to backup the directory with Sybase script files

#***************************************************************************

SYB_FILES_POLICY=syb_files

#***************************************************************************

# Replace /usr/sybase12/scripts below with your actual path of the Sybase files 

#***************************************************************************

SYB_FILES_DIR=/usr/sybase12/scripts

Also what about the number of channels to backup.

In sample script, files under SYB_FILES_DIR is backed up as user backup with policy specified as SYB_FILES_POLICY. You need additional backup policyof file backup with user backup schedule.

Have you read though the NetBackup for Sybase Administrator's Guide ?
It contains all the explanations and detailed steps.

Please do not try to do this on your own - if you are the Sybase dba, work with your backup admin.
If you are the backup admin, work with your Sybase dba.
