We have two policies for each oracle server, one for full database backup and another one for archive log backup. We scheduled the archivelog policy, not to run during the full database backup.

But still sometime we get the below notification, when checked we didn't find any other backup running at that time.

The abc (on server xyz) Archivelog Backup (which began at 08/29/2012 07:57:25 and ended at 08/29/2012 07:57:25) failed. with warnings. The script was halted because it is already running.

Were there any NetBackup Processes left running on the client? (bpbkar etc) or a rogue bpbrm on the Media Server (bpbrm PIDs are visible in the activity monitor under the columns selection)?

Otherwise there may be an RMAN proces not closing out correctly - maybe worth double checking your scripts?

Also check for sny Parent jobs that may have been left running

Can't think of anything else off hand - it sounds like it has a process or lock file still existing when the next backup tries to run

Hope this helps

Logs to check on client:

dbclient (If Unix/Linux client and dbclient folder does not exist, create it in /usr/openv/netbackup/logs, followed by 'chmod 777 dblient' .)
Oracle output file
