I have some LTO3 media tapes that I need to read on a LTO4 tape drive. I would like to know if there is a way to restore it through netbackup gui.
Some observations:
The LTO3 tape data was written using a non netbackup solution.
I'm just interested in recovering the raw data.
Is that possible ?

LTO4 tape drives can read a LTO3 tape - so you have a yes there
restore via NB - you can import it if it was backed up using Backup exec -
but if it was something else then you cannot use NB.
However it is just a tape drive on your server.
Down the tape drive in NB.
use robtest to move the tape to the tape drive.
then use OS commands to read the tape and restore (it really depends on how the data was put to the tape as to how you can get it off)

"The LTO3 tape data was written using a non netbackup solution."
The ONLY backup format that can be imported into NetBackup is Backup Exec. Sorry if that is not what you wanted to hear...

The problem has been solved. Actually we mounted the tape and restored the backup through operating system.
Anyway thanks for helping.
