Unable to configure robots

Shrikumar

Hi All,

When ever I am trying to configure robot in AIX box I am getting the below error

"ioctl IOCINFO returned unsupported device type j (using ovpass) A SCSI inquiry sent to the device has failed Robotic definition added for TLD(6)"

When I fired the command scan -charger in the machine where robots are attached was not getting no output.

Any body please help me to solve this issue.

Have you followed the section on AIX within the Device Configuration Guide

There is a section on the ovpass pass-through driver and updating it.

1) did the ovpass create ok?

2) if it did not do you have the Atape file set installed?

When I add my my library to aix I could not get it to configure until I had installed the Atape file set.

How to upgrade the ovpass device driver without running remove_ovpass?

ovpass dev file is not conigure correctly so that scsi id or lun of ovpass dev file is different from  physical dev settings.
Device configuration on AIX is especially difficult.

you can try to recreate it by hand.

I have step by setp instructions on how to create the ovpass by hand on an aix server ( I am running 5.3.8)  if you would like to see them.
