Open the attachment in this Technote and it will tell you what OS you can use as a Master server:
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH76648
Expannd "Operating System" and go through each one. You'll be interested in the NetBackup Server part for each OS.
You will notice Windows 7 only shows it's available to use in NetBackup as a client.
NetBackup 7.5 Documentation is available here: http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5138

Please post output of all of these commands from cmd:
hostname
ipconfig /all
bpclntcmd -self
(command is in <install-path>\veritas\netbackup\bin)
nbemmcmd -listhosts -verbose
nbemmcmd -getemmserver
(command is in <install-path>\veritas\netbackup\bin\admincmd)

Not sure why you posted the screenshots in a totally unrelated discussion?
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/nbu7506-nbemmcmd-hangs#comment-9398011
Please try to copy text rather than taking screenshots? It is a lot easier to read text...
Please post output of all of the commands that I have asked for above.
It seems that your master server has problems with own name lookup with the multiple interfaces and IP addresses. You are connected to wireless network as well as LAN cable. If both IP adresses resolve to same hostname, EMM will get 'confused'. See the link that I have referred to above. Different IP adresses on the same server should be bound to different hostnames - either local hosts file or DNS.
One more thing - NBU needs IP addresses on Servers to be fixed.
Please also tell us more about your installation?
NBU is not supported as Master server on Windows 7.
Or have you installed NBU in a VM on your laptop?
If you have installed NBU in a VM, you need to open cmd in the master server VM and collect all of the output that I have asked for in the previous post.
PS: Best to post here and not via email. I help on the forums for the good of the greater community and is not always online over weekends.

Windows 7 is desktop family operating system, NBU was never meant to run as master/media server on Desktop OS. You can install Remote Admin Console/or Java console though.
Try below TN and check if it helps

nbemmcmd commands return no output?
Can we take a step back:
What exactly did you install on your Windows 7 laptop?
Master?
Media?
Admin console?
The blank nbemmcmd output makes me think that you have installed Admin Console, right?
What is the purpose of this installation?
As we have pointed out, NBU master server is not supported on Windows 7.
All you can do with Admin Console is to manage a functioning master server.

Open the attachment in this Technote and it will tell you what OS you can use as a Master server:
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH76648
Expannd "Operating System" and go through each one. You'll be interested in the NetBackup Server part for each OS.
You will notice Windows 7 only shows it's available to use in NetBackup as a client.
NetBackup 7.5 Documentation is available here: http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5138

Hi revaroo!
Thankq so much for great reply.
It is not possible for windows 7 use for both master and clint server?
m
11-03-2013 01:42 AM
No. Windows 7 for client only.
11-03-2013 11:29 PM
You can install Windows Admin Console to manage a Master server.
It seems you have VMware workstation installed on your laptop?
You can install Windows 2008 or a supported Linux version as VM and use that for NBU master server.
To get to know NBU, start with NBU 'Getting Started Guide'. You can find the link to this and all other NBU manuals in the 7.5 documentation link provided by revaroo above.

Captain, I wonder if the negative votes are from a competitor? If not it's either an internet troll or a bug in the forum software?

I just gave a plus to Jack's post as he gave a good answer.

Odd about all the other minuses; never seen that before.

The admins are busy investigating.
These negative votes should stop from today onwards....
