Unable to expire VTL media

Hi all,

Am having bunch of VTL media's and duplicated those images to PTL. Now when i tried to expire the images in VTL by bpexpdate -m 00000 -d 0 it's giving the error as "Invalid command parameter". Also i have tried vmdelete -m 00000 it's giving error as "cannot delete assigned volume <92>" Still the media is not assigned.

Kindly provide some more idea to delete the images from the VTL media's.

I found that the VTL database for the specific media's are corrupted. HEnce i have deleted those VTL media's from VTL admin console and recreated the tpaes.

Thanks all for your posting on this.

What version of NBU are you running?

Did you check any logs?

Are you using SLP to backup and duplicate images? If so, you will not be able to expire media as long they are 'owned' by SLP...

You REALLY need to give us a bit more....

VTL database is not connected/related to EMM and/or NBU image database.

Corrupt VTL database does not explain why the tapes could not be expired in NBU...
