Unable to see images after 1st and 2nd phase import from encrypted LTO4 tapes.

Creole-Kid
Level 3

We successfully performed 1st phase import without errors on 2 tapes containing the data we need to restore.  The 2nd phase import completed with a partially successful import and error code of '1'.  The key files from the original master server are installed and activated on the new master server.  The LTO4 tapes are imported using LTO5 drives but were original written using LTO4 drives.  I did not create the original volume pool names used for encryption before completing phase 1 and 2 of the import.  My issue is very similar to a previous forum discussion titled "Unable to see images after 1st & 2nd phase import completed for Restores frm LTO3 tapes".  However, I am not clear what was the resolution to the problem.  Using that forum discussion as the basis for starting my discussion, I am going to include all of the information requested by various responders in the aforementioned forum discussion.  Where the list of data is too lengthy, I am going to only include the status or completion codes.

Please let me know if you need additional information.  I will probably laugh at myself once I find out I either did it wrong or missed a step. For now, it is a serious restore required.

Thanks everyone for any assistance you can provide.

Apologies... I totally missed your reply above....

You can see in OpsCenter report that 4 tapes were used on 3 November.

You need to perform phase 1 import of all 4 these tapes, and then perform phase 2 import of required images : 090180, 090066, 090077 and 090105

You have only imported 090077 and 090105.

ERR - Unexpected EOF reading image. The image information is not complete.

There seems to be more tapes in this backup set.
If original master server is available and backups have not yet expired over there, please check 'Media Written' report for 3 & 4 Nov 2013.

Hi Greg

As per the below error, it seems that the import was not successful.
It was partially imported the image, due to which its not being visible.

As per Marianne, please check if any other media associated with this backup. If yes, then it has to be imported as well for successfully data restore

Hi Marianne & Vickie,

Thank you both for your quick replies.  Based upon your recommendations, I took another look at the tapes last written report and decided to gamble on the next 4 tapes.  Even though their last written dates follow the Nov 3rd date, they were close enough to have possibly been used for the backup image I need to restore.  One of the tapes contained additional fragments related to the 11/03 backup of the server.  I don't want to declare a solution until I can actually restore the missing file from the image but I am feeling cautiously hopeful. By the way, the original master server's storage bit the dust and the catalog was stored on the failed storage.  I am pulling this information from Symantecs OpsCenter Analytics.  If you think you don't need to run OpsCenter, please change your mind. It works.  Below is the listing from the tape report:

Thanks, Marianne.  I was able to restore the file after importing the additional tapes.
