Upgrade from 2.6.1.1 to 2.7.2 !

Hello,

I faced a problem with Netbackup, I was unable to connect and all backup scheduler stopped with the following errors

    Checking if installation is successful ...                       [OK]
    Checking if SSH is enabled ...                                   [OK]
    Checking if hostname is set ...                                  [OK]
    Checking if IP address is set ...                                [OK]
    Checking if appliance user accounts exists ...                   [OK]
    Checking if required packages are installed ...                  [OK]
    Checking if NetBackup is configured and running ...              [FAIL]
    Checking if storage units and diskpools have been created ...    [OK]
    Checking if SLPs have been created ...                           [NA]
    Checking if required NetBackup policies have been created ...    [NA]
    Checking if OpsCenter is configured and running ...              [OK]
    Checking test backup and restore operations ...                  [OK]
    Expiring test backup images and deleting test policy ...         [OK]
    Checking IPsec setup on the box ...                              [FAIL]

I found that the Firmware version is to old (2.6.1.1) and we must upgrade it to the latest version,

I upgraded the Appliance to version 2.7.2 and after that the problem has been solved,

    Checking whether BIOS firmware is compatible with the software ...

    Checking whether NetBackup is configured and running ...           [OK]
    Checking whether storage units and diskpools have been created ... [OK]
    Checking whether Web Server is configured and running ...          [OK]
    Checking test backup operations ...                                [OK]
    Checking test restore operations ...                               [OK]
    Expiring test backup images and deleting test policy ...           [OK]
    Completed running tests on the appliance.
    SELF TEST RESULT :                                                 [PASS]
 
While i connect to the applince using Java
 
Unable to login, status: 514
NB-Java: bpjava-msvc is not compatible with this application version (7.6.1).
 
I can't access the site to download the latest java version
 
any help

That error message means that you are trying to access a 7.7/2.7 Master with a Java Admin Console version 7.6/2.6.

If you are running the Admin Console on a Windows system you'll need to download the Win 7.7.2 ZIP and install the updated console from the Java Addons.

If you are running the Admin Console on a non-Windows system it will still need to be updated but since I don't have any non-Windows Media Servers I'm not 100% sure where to download / install the updated version.

Unlike the upgrade for the Appliances, the other NetBackup files, including the ZIP you need, are not available via a simple link.

You'll need to:

Log into https://my.veritas.com

Click on Licensing

If you have more than one contract, click on the most current one

Depending on your license, either find the entry (or entries) for NetBackup Platform Base or one that lists version 7.7

Click on the link next to that

Scroll down to the bottom of the new page

Click the Download link

The file you want is NetBackup_7.7.2_Win.zip...this is what would be on DVD #1 if they still had DVD sets

Once you've unzipped it, go to Addons / x64 / JavaInstallFiles

Right click on Setup and Run as Admin

That should install the updated Java Admin Console...you might have to uninstall the existing Java Admin Console first...the Setup will tell you if you need to.

Cannot find an appliance matching your search criteria.

(I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on TV<GRIN>)

I would suggest calling Customer Service and making sure that your support contract(s) are properly reflected in my.veritas.com.  They can also help you set up a userid/password and link it to your support contracts.

You may also have to call Technical Support regarding the registration failure or things may straighten out once your support contracts are properly reflected in my.vertas.com.
