Hi ,
We are planning to upgrade our environment from 7.6.0.3 -> 7.7.1 (Hope this is doable), We are planning to upgrade the NBU to make use of NDMP Accelerator feature. Can you comment on the below please
1. Do we require any license to activate the NDMP Accelerator .
2. is there any way to forecast the track log size (to have adequate disk space on master/media server for track logs).
3. Will this work on both C-Dot & 7 mode volumes

1. Do we require any license to activate the NDMP Accelerator .
If you have Capacity License (Platform Base – Complete Edition), then all options and features are included.
If you have traditional host-based licenses, you will need NDMP option as well as Data Protection Optimization Option.
2. is there any way to forecast the track log size (to have adequate disk space on master/media server for track logs).
NetBackup 7.7.1 for NDMP Administrator's Guide
The manual does not say, but it recommends to move the track log to another location.

How to redirect track logs for Accelerator for NDMP for NetApp Filers
Track log size is relative to the size and number of files in a backup. In some cases, you may need to relocate the track logs to a different volume because of space issues. In these cases, Symantec recommends that you "redirect" the track logs to a volume where there is sufficient disk space. One copy of the track log exists on the master server and another copy exists on a media server.....

3. Will this work on both C-Dot & 7 mode volumes
Try the HCL:

Do you have
NetBackup Platform Base Complete Edition
or
NetBackup Platform Base NDMP Edition ?
NetBackup Platform Base Complete Edition includes all of these features:
Standard Client
Enterprise Client
Server
Enterprise Server
Application & DB Pack
SAP Agent
Data Protection Optimization Option
Replication Director
NDMP Option
Shared Storage Option
Vault Option
Library Based Tape Drive
OpsCenter Analytics
NetBackup Platform Base NDMP Edition includes the following:
Server
Enterprise Server
Data Protection Optimization Option
Replication Director
NDMP Option
Shared Storage Option
Vault Option
Library Based Tape Drive
OpsCenter Analytics
So, you can see that both options include DPOO.
When you list licensed features on NBU master, it will probably show up as PureDisk.
Accelerator works with dedupe disk only. No tape.

I have this below license features listed on my master & could see Puredisk ,NDMP option listed in there.
so this should be okay to enable the NDMP accelerator on MSDP Storage?
Is it mandatory to protect MSDP catalog also before 7.7.1 upgrade (Currently we are running on 7.6.0.3 no option to protect MSDP catalog on this version).

There is no way to protect MSDP catalog from NBU point of view.
Best Practice is to have another copy of the backups - either another MSDP on another server where you duplicate/replicate to, or else duplication to tape.
See About protecting the MSDP data in NetBackup Deduplication Guide

Thanks Marianne .We have requested Veritas for the Mserial number ,will upgrade the system and post you the results
