VERITAS Netbackup 5.1 for Windows 2008

Hello,

We've migrated the data from Windows 2003 to 2008 (VM).

So We would like to the data backup for Windows 2008 using Veritas running in the Windows 2003.

We got the fail to backup.

Is it possible to backup the data in this situation??

Yes, W2003 server can backup W2008 client - physical or Viritual. See the OS CL:  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76648

What is NBU version and patch level on the master?

Tell us more about the backup - what is the policy type? 
What is in Backup Selection for the policy?

What is the error message and status code?

Copy all text in details tab of failed job and post here.

How did you migrate? Have you installed a client in the 2008 server?

Client ; Window 2003 -> 2008

It is not existed Winow server 2008 in the operating system .

NetBackup 5.1?? Really??

That version reached EOSL in 2009.

Why are you prepared to upgrade OS but not your backup software?

Even NBU 6.x reached EOSL in 2012.
You REALLY need a new NBU server with 7.x software that supports all 'current' OS versions.

so we don't have any way to backup the data on Netbackup 5.1?

it doesn't have function to care the data on Win 2k8?

To update the 7.x software, Is it possible to install it on Win2003?

Up to 7.5 NBU server software is supported on W2003. Please go through the SCL (TECH76648) that I have posted on 16 Feb).
(But W2003 is also due to reach EOSL from Microsoft soon....)

There was a specific patch for 5.1(MP4 patch if memory serves me right) that was complete Client software for W2008, but that was SO long ago that I doubt that the software or download URL is still available.

It is REALLY time to replace your NBU software. 
Don't even try to upgrade - the upgrade path will be too long.
(You will be able to import 5.x tapes on 7.x NBU server).
