Hello,
we have some network throughput issues so planning to replace the current ( attached the picture ) way of backup to new so can some one pls
correct if this doen't seems right ( want to use same windows server as off-host and media server).
Also i believe few of them have vblock in their shops whats the best way to back to that ? becauase we can't intermix the fabric like vblock has Cisco MDS and our external has brocade so we can't use the SAN transport.

The only exception is if the server is MS Windows 2012. ( Had a customer ask me this the other day ) Since MS Windows server 2012 is only certified as a client, this combination would not work. Marianne brings up an excellent article.

Yes! Best if your Backup Host is also the media server.

Hi Marianne..thank you for the info
Dyneshia,
if i understand correct , u mentioned MS Windows 2012 doesn't support this configuration ? meaning we are planning to setup Windows server 2012 for these Media server & offhost ( single server )

Correct, as of right now MS Windows server 2012 is only ceritfied as a client, therfore if you were planning to upgrade the OS to Windows server 2012 or use a MS Windows server 2012 as a backup host, it will not be certified.
