Hi All,
Is it possible to do a Full VM restore with only Incremental backups.
The config are NBU 7.0.1 installd on Solaris 10 Master server with vSphere 4.0.0.1 and the VM that needs to be recovered are with Win2k8 version.
I need to do the restore from the First backup of the server but that happens to be a Incremental backup rather than a Full backup. The default property of Netbackup is to do a Full backup for the first backup so is it possible to achieve this restore.

Prabaharan

Technically Full restore can not be done from INCr backup..
but in your case, as you did the first backup as INCR, though it says INCR backup, its actaully a Full backup., it takes backup of all the data as it does not find previous full backup)
in your case, yes you can go ahead and do the restore from Very first backup.

Thanks Nagalla. But can we do a Full VM recovery with the applications from the VM also. Or only the data can be recovered from this.

hi ,
Vmware can protect exchage/ SQL/Sharepoint , and can remover the data base files induivadully , with out recovering full VM.
when you go for Full VM recovery , its just like. :-do the restore ->power on.--> start using... noting more
it does not matter what is the application its running..
