VMWare Backup Host - Datastore zoning

REFERENCE: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/netbackup-vmware-how-configure-datastores-where-backup-host-vm

Hi,

I have a similar question.  My VMWare backup Host is one of my physical media servers.  I've added zoning so this VMWare backup Host  can now see all the esx datastores.

How do I mount these within windows (my VMWare backup Host is 2008 R2 64), do I just mount them as any old drive letter?

Sorry I can't find any guide as to how this should be done?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

The VM datastores must not be mounted on the backup host. Automount should be disabled before zoning is done.

DO NOT MOUN THEM ON YOUR WINDOWS MEDA SERVER!!!!!

What you should do is as stated disable auto mount from CMD line, what should happen is you will see many LUNS in the disk manager in Windows this means windows can see them but not use them if i remember right they show as in an Unknown state.

As long as they are in this state your ready to go.

Thanks very much for your help.  Was surprised that they didn't need to be mounted.  All sorted and working.

Cheers.
