Hi, I've been testing the new vstorage api in a test environment, Both lan and SAN backups.
To get SAN backup to work I needed some help:
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/netbackup-7-can-not-backup-over-fibre
Little side track there.
My backup environment NBU 7 Master on windows 2008 R2, NBU 7 mediaserver on windows 2008 R2. Media server can see a VMFS volume on ESX host.
ESX .4.0 or Vsphere.
SAN backups works fine, great speeds and so on. Even done backups to NBU PD pool ver nice.
My problem is regarded to restore.
I've restored using LAN works great, but slow. SAN works great but slow.
I found a lot of Clear Lazy Zero messages is Virtual Center and this was related to restore being redirected via Virtual Center server.
Se http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/338374.htm
Hens I'm trying to figure out hot to redirect directly to my ESX host instead via Virtual Center server.
ESX Restore Server Credentials is set, validated ok. I do see that the port used is 0, should I set this to 443?
Selecting Vitrual Center Server for restore:
Netbackup Recovrey host : MEDIAERVER
Cventer Server : Virtual Center Server
ESX Server : ESX
Datacenter: /Datasenter
Folder : /Datasenter/something
Dispaly name : VM
Recource Pool : Resources
Datastore : ESX :TEST_DISK
Transfere Type : SAN
This is okay, if I under stand correctly the only option to be changed is vCenter Server option from the actual Virtual Center Server to NONE.
Netbackup Recovrey host : MEDIAERVER
vCenter Server : NONE
ESX Server : ESX
Datacenter: /Datasenter
Folder : /Datasenter/something
Dispaly name : VM
Recource Pool : THIS OPTION IS NO LONGER POPULATED
Datastore : ESX : THIS OPTION IS NO LONGER POPULATED
Transfere Type : SAN
When trying to validate I get:
Netbackup recovery host credentials accessible - passed
Valitation tests did not complete due to system error
Please advise on what I am doing wrong here..
