Vault Eject

We have NBU 6.5 with 1 Master and 3 Media servers all running the same version. The library is OverlandNeo Series with 2 mail slot and 45 tape slots. I am trying to configure the vault management with this library to eject the tapes but everytime the vault gets successfull but doesn't eject anything.

Would like to know if it is possible or it can only be done in the libraries with MAC?

If this can't be done is there any other way we can do as we have 2 mail slots and everytime it takes time to pull the magaziine to remove the tapes.

Thanks for helping.

Regards

The above is correct.  This is how I had to use my old Neo unit.  Some times it worked, and other times it didn't.  Also have to inventory the Robot every time so it knows the media is no longer in the libary.

For Overland Storage tape libraries and loaders without MAPs: Wait for the Vault operation to complete.

Review the picklist generated by Vault to determine which media need to be extracted from the library or loader. The following shows an example of how you might determine this (the directory and path might be different for your environment).

ls /space/netbackup/vault_reports

A message similar to the following appears: picklist_robot_1120152132.rpt summary_distlist_vault_1120152132.rpt

# more picklist_robot_1120152132.rpt

For more information, see Picking List for Robot in the VERITAS NetBackup Vault Operator’s Guide for UNIX and Windows

"not able to find anything what you mentioned in your thread."

Have you had a look at the manual as per Bill's advice?

"For more information, see Picking List for Robot in the VERITAS NetBackup Vault Operator’s Guide for UNIX and Windows "

"not able to find anything what you mentioned in your thread." I mean i didn't find vault_reports and anything with *.rpt

I was looking into 6.5 and 7 but there was no Picking List for Robot in there, I was able to find it in 5.1 Vault Operator’s Guide but nothing mentioned about the library that doesn't have the MAC and how to eject from them. Do we have to eject manually one by one. Is there any way i can just run the eject policy and it keep putting the tapes in mail slot and we can then eject them. Once removed from the mail slot it should eject the remaining tapes. Just want to know if that is possible?

We do have SL 500 as well and I know how that works but having hard time ejecting all the tapes manually from this overland library

Thanks for helping

For the moment, forget Vault

If you manually click a tape in NBU, and eject - does it end up in th e'mailslot' ???

If so, and this works, I would suggest vault should work.  all vault does is run NetBackup commands.

Yes it does without any issues, we have 2 mail slots so can eject 2 at a time.

Ok, what's in the detail.log for one of the vault SIDs that fail to eject ?

After checking the detailed log I found one of the TN which resolved the issue. It was pointing to the wrong Robotic Volume Group and after changing that it is ejecting the tapes the way I want it to be.

We has same situation. Problem was misconfiguration of vault profile. Check if you put correct volume group. There is TN for this. Not in the office and couldn't add link. Search it in google. Or just change your volume group to correct one.

I already told you about that in my above note: "We has same situation. Problem was misconfiguration of vault profile. Check if you put correct volume group. There is TN for this. Not in the office and couldn't add link. Search it in google. Or just change your volume group to correct one"
