Virtual Name for Media servers

Hi,

I have a two nodes Windows cluster with a cluster service configured with a virtual IP and virtual hostname tied to it. These two servers are also NB media servers.

I want to configure a Storage Unit that tie to this Virtual name rather then the actual hostname of the media servers. However, how can I add the virtual name in the media server list so that when I create the Storage Unit, I can select the name from the list ?

Hi William,

I'm not strong on NBU running on Windows but I doubt it can be done.

But if your objective is to have some resiliency (or failover) on storage unit, you can arhieve it using storage unit group. Create a Storage Unit Group, add the Storage Units of each media server into the created Storage Unit Group. Configure your backup polices's attribute to this Storage Unit Group.

You can also specify the order of Storage Units with the group being use. You may refer to the Storage Unit Group chapter of Netbackup System Administrator Guide Vol 1 for details.
