Hi,
Few Windows server 2008 & 2003 experiance same kind of behaviour.
backup are completing partially successful with error message as 'FTL - cannot open C:\ProgramFiles\VERITAS\NetBackup\online_util\fi_cntl\bpfis.fim.'
i don't see any files currently exist at above location.
i also tried by extending size of 'shadow copies' and that also not helped.
Details of environment:
Windows Server environment: Win Server 2008 R2 & Win Server 2003
NetBakup Master server : 7.5
Win Client : 7.1.0.2
i have attached bpbkar and bpfis log files here.
Thanks in advance for time and help.
Regards

I see the following in your bpfis log:
05:30:56.223 [4084.5628] <2> bpfis main: receive filelist:<NEW_STREAM> 05:30:56.223 [4084.5628] <2> bpfis main: receive filelist:<System_State:\> 05:30:56.223 [4084.5628] <2> bpfis main: receive filelist:<NEW_STREAM> 05:30:56.223 [4084.5628] <2> bpfis main: receive filelist:<ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES>
Hopefully you do NOT have System_State as well as ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES in Backup Selection?
ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES already includes Shadow Copy Components (which includes System State).
You should only have ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES in backup selection.
This is also explained in NBU Admin Guide I under the ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES directive.
Please also verify status of VSS writers on clients with:
vssadmin list writers
vssadmin list providers

Before we have a look at logs - there have been many fixes for Shadow Component backups in NBU 7.1.0.3 and 7.1.0.4.
Best to upgrade your clients to same version as master server. Hopefully your 7.5 server is at a minimum level of 7.5.0.4?
Please upgrade your clients and let us know if problem is resolved.

Your actual problem is this:
<32> bpfis: FTL - snapshot services: snapshot target analysis failed: resource not claimed by any provider.
Do you have System State or Shadow Copy Components listed in the policy in addition to ALL)LOCAL_DRIVES? If so, just use ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES. If not, can we see the policy:
bppllist MDDKCPHAS008 -L
Thanks.

Strange, when I looked at this original post a few minutes ago, there were no replies shown.

It takes a couple of minutes for the site to refresh.

in cmd run command 'vssadmin list writers' & 'vssadmin list providers' looks ok.
backup selection contains both System_State as well as ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES. deleted System_State from backup selection.
Thank you for your help
