Write on tape LTO4 with a Drive LTO6 (HCART2)

hi,

It's possible to write on a Tape LTO-4 with a LTO-6  Drive when we change his density from HCART3 to HCART2 ?

Not possible. That is a hardware compatibility issue. Nothing to do with NBU.

A drive can read and write same model and one model lower. 
So, LTO6 can read and write LTO6 and LTO5.

A drive can also read tapes from 2 levels lower.
So, LTO6 can read LTO4, but not write to it.

If you try your method, the tape will be mounted, but will return an error which will result in media being Frozen.

No, not possible. The media are pre-formatted, and contain Near field conductor chips - so the drives always know what type of media the tapes really are.

No - Write compatibility is only one generation back. So you can write LOT5 tapes with LTO6 drives.

You can however READ to generation back (reading LTO5 and LTO4 using LTO6 drive)
