I'm looking for information and guidance to help me maintain a healthy NetBackup environment. Maybe a doc that provides maintenance tasks for specific NetBackup components.

ie. Do I need to defrag the data base regularly?

Your best practice is your Architecture Design, if you configure it well from the beggining you'll be fine, thinks to see are bandwith speeds, backup speeds, buffers, Total Storage backedup and future projections, so you can prevent be in trouble, Defrag? mmm well can work with standalone drives or mirrored drives, for RAID configurations is not that easy, but the SCSI or FC speed fix this issue, not sure if this answer your question, let us know.

As for me I

1) Check backup errors, down drives on the daily basis.

2) Handle status code 1, frozen media on the weekly basis.
