are mapped full vm image level backups

Hi, i'm new to configuring vapi backups and was wondering if mapped full vm backups are the same as "image level" backup?

Yes it does Image level backup and two type of restores are possible with this selection

  1. Recovers the entire virtual Machine.
  2. Individual file recovery.

Mapped Full VM support both full and incremental backups. For Incremental backups with BLIB (Block Level Incremental Backup) entire VM can recovered, whereas incremental backup without BLIB supports only file-level restore.

Note that BLIB supports only ESX 4.0 & vmx 7 and above.

For Linux file level restore is only possible for RHEL 4, 5 and SUSE 10. 11 64 bit OS.

thank you very much for your reply.  Do you know if there's any reference to the mapped full vm being image level backups anywhere in documentation?
