backups not picking the tape after changing the drive

Hi All,

Need some help here:

OS -windows 2003

Media and Master 6.5.5

We have recently changed the faulty drive and reconfigured using "configuration storage device". The backups or duplicates only runs on the Drive4,when we put the drive 4 down to trace the issue and whenever we runs the backup it shows the error message error 830 (EMM_ERROR_DrivesDownMediaAvailable, All compatible drive paths are down, but media is available)

When we checked the bptm logs it tries to go to HP.ULTRIUM4-SCSI.016 which doesn't exist any more. Restarted the services and server but still no luck. Please ignore the IBM as they are VTL and working fine. The one with HP are actual tape drives in the library.

C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\bin>tpconfig -d

Delete the drive compleate and re-add it. Makre sure to bounce media manger between configurations.

Is it there a reason for the HP Ultrium4 to use diffrent density ?. Or it it a config error ?

3   HP.ULTRIUM4-SCSI.000 hcart  TLD(0)  DRIVE=1
4   HP.ULTRIUM4-SCSI.001 hcart  TLD(0)  DRIVE=2
9   HP.ULTRIUM4-SCSI.007 hcart2 TLD(0)  DRIVE=4

Ahh,  that is it, You hit the nail on the head, I overlooked it and might have misconfigured it, the moment changed both the drives to hcart 2 they started working fine.

Thanks much Nicolai.
