Configured a newly built server for backup but bptestbpcd results error code 25. Client s/w is installed.
DHCP is disabled, IP configured manually.
results from client bpclntcmd -pn results successfully.
master and client version :7.6.0.1.
Name resolution done through DNS entry.

You need to speak to Server and Network admins.
Network admins will know for sure if there is a firewall.

Have you created bpcd log folder on the client before trying bptestbpcd?
Did you verify that reverse lookup is working in all directions?
If this is Windows client, did you confirm that Windows Firewall is disabled?
Please ensure bpcd log folder exists on client under netbackup\logs, then run bptestbpcd again:
bptestbpcd -client <hostname> -verbose -debug
Please post output of command.
If log is created in client bpcd folder, copy the file to bpcd.txt and upload as File attachment.

My guess would be reverse lookup or routning on the client side

Not sure what the above means?
Please go through my previous post again:
1. Confirm reverse lookup is enabled.
2. Confirm Windows Firewall is disabled on client.
3. Confirm that bpcd log folder exists on client
4. Run bptestbpcd again on master and/or media server with this syntax:
bptestbpcd -client <hostname> -verbose -debug
5. Post command and all of the output.
6. If log file is created in client bpcd log folder, upload as File attachment.

Please run the command as per my post above, then copy the text in the output, rather than taking a screenshot.
NBU 7.6 will 1st try to connect to PBX (port 1556).
If that fails, it will try vnetd (port 13724)
If that fails, it will try bpcd (port 13782).
My guess at this point is that Windows Firewall is enabled on the client or else a firewall between the server and the client.
Minimum requirement is that port 1556 must be open in both directions.

Have you had a look at reference to firewalls in my previous posts?
My guess at this point is that Windows Firewall is enabled on the client or else a firewall between the server and the client.
Minimum requirement is that port 1556 must be open in both directions.
09-25-2014 02:15 AM
Result bptestbpcd -client
09-25-2014 02:15 AM
09-25-2014 02:18 AM
Also as per my previous post:
NBU 7.6 will 1st try to connect to PBX (port 1556).
If that fails, it will try vnetd (port 13724)
If that fails, it will try bpcd (port 13782).
You can see this clearly in output:
03:50:23.303 [22435] <16> connect_to_service: connect failed STATUS (18) CONNECT_FAILED
status: FAILED, (44) CONNECT_TIMEOUT; system: (115) Operation now in progress; FROM 0.0.0.0 TO wpappeboss007 10.30.207.95 bpcd VIA pbx
status: FAILED, (44) CONNECT_TIMEOUT; system: (115) Operation now in progress; FROM 0.0.0.0 TO wpappeboss007 10.30.207.95 bpcd VIA vnetd
status: FAILED, (44) CONNECT_TIMEOUT; system: (115) Operation now in progress; FROM 0.0.0.0 TO wpappeboss007 10.30.207.95 bpcd
FIREWALL! For sure!
