Hi,

If we configure policies with different schedules how does Netbackup determines which schedule to run next???

Thanks in advance,

The scheduler first check for the availabilty of full backup.

If you dont have a full backup - but trigger a incremental / differential for a policiy netbackup takes only full backup of it.

Consider the following schedule.

Sun - Full

Mon - Sat - Incr.

Its good practice to start with a full backup if you configure the policy on a weekday.

Start a full backup and leave it to the scheduler. The next day onwards it will proceed with Incremental until Sun where there is a reserved schedule for full backup again.

It uses general logic - almost like common sense (though you wouldnt think it sometimes!)

So it looks at all available windows and sets timers for when it can run.

If two schedules have the same window (at least the start time) it will allocate the timer to the least used or most specific one so that it doesnt run both at the same time.

To double check your schedule setup you can run the nbpemreq command - see the commands guide for all available options.

Hope this helps
